A burst pipe can do a lot of damage in an hour. The first job is stopping the water, the second is fixing it so it doesn't happen again.
Pipes burst for a handful of reasons: old copper wearing thin, a flexi hose that has corroded, high water pressure, ground movement, or someone digging through a line in the yard.
We repair the burst, check the pressure and the rest of the line, and tell you if other sections are likely to go the same way. If the pressure is too high, a pressure limiting valve is often the cheapest way to protect the whole house.

Find the meter
Usually at the front of the property near the boundary, in a box or behind a small cover.

Turn it off
Turn the tap on the meter clockwise until it stops. Units often have a tap in a cupboard or meter room.

Power off if needed
If water is near power points or lights, switch off at the switchboard.

Questions
Will insurance cover a burst pipe?
Often the water damage is covered, but the pipe repair itself may not be. We give you a written report and photos to help with your claim.
Can you fix a burst pipe under the driveway?
Yes. Depending on the job we can reroute the line around the slab instead of breaking it up.
Why did my flexi hose burst?
Braided hoses corrode and weaken over time. We recommend replacing any that are rusty or over about ten years old.
